FOUNDER – GREG RHODES

Greg Rhodes

Founder

Greg started Rhodes Contracting in 1992.

With Greg’s existing remote civil work experience, plumbing and building qualifications he saw the opportunity to create a self-sufficient Civil Construction Company capable of operating in the remotest parts of the Northern Territory.

Now trading as Exact Contracting, the Group of Companies built by Greg and his vision have developed into a business that employs over 500 people nationally.

At the time of his untimely death in 2022, Greg (affectionately also known to everyone as ‘Rhodesy’) had over 45 years’ experience in Civil Construction, Water Infrastructure, Mining Services and Transport Operations.

During this time, he gained vast experience in the construction of Government assets, large projects and long-term contracts in the private sector for many blue-chip companies.

As a Territorian, Exact’s role in delivering key Northern Territory Infrastructure for both State and Federal Governments was something Greg was especially proud of.

His respect both within the Industry and Exact, came from his belief of staying true to his word; investing in new relationships; and thinking about the long-term big picture.

His knowledge, creativity and approachability were key in devising efficient construction methods, solving complex problems, and developing strategies for Projects or the Business both in the short or long term.

Always leading by example, he built long term sustainable working relationships with clients, manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, landholders, communities, and other stakeholders that are still highly valued within Exact today.

Greg was ‘not your typical Managing Director’ and would often take on the additional role of Project Director on the ground, however tough or remote the project might be for any length of time.

Greg was always learning and striving to improve through applying new technology or techniques he acquired across various industries to develop more efficient methods of quality construction.

Taking pride in his Company’s work, project sites and equipment fleet, Greg was passionate about building high quality infrastructure within budget and to the time frame he committed to.

His gregarious personality along with his natural leadership style allowed Greg to effortlessly mentor Exact employees of all levels and build Exact into a company that will be a long-lasting legacy to his name.

Greg’s work ethic, pride and reputation still inspires the culture at Exact to this day.
